Taiwan on alert over N.Korea's launch


Taiwan is preparing for North Korea to launch a rocket between Thursday and next Monday.

The International Maritime Organization said the rocket is likely to pass over the island.

Taiwan's defense ministry has ordered its troops to protect its citizens and prepare for falling debris.

Defense Minister Kao Hua-chu told parliament that he will consider coordinating with the United States to monitor the launch and track the orbit.

Some Taiwanese media say the military is deploying interceptor missiles.
