日外相：美日安保條約適用釣島 是日美共識
（路透東京17日電）日本外務大臣玄葉光一郎今天會晤美國國防部長潘內達後表示，尖閣諸島（釣魚台列嶼）適用美日安保條約，是日美兩國共識。
玄葉在東京會晤潘內達（Leon Panetta）後告訴記者：「我今天並未提出這個話題，但（這些島嶼）適用此項條約，是日本與美國的共識。」
玄葉表示：「非常遺憾反日示威會以前所未見的規模蔓延，部分示威還演變成暴動，造成日本相關企業重大損失。我想再次要求中國政府採取適當措施，我想再次要求遵守法治。」
他說：「日中關係的要點是避免誤解與誤判。」中央社（翻譯）

Gemba, Panetta discuss China's anti-Japan protests
The Japanese Foreign Minister and US Defense Secretary have agreed their governments must work together to prevent anti-Japanese protests in China from seriously damaging relations between Japan and China.
Koichiro Gemba and Leon Panetta met in Tokyo on Monday. They discussed the protests held across China since Japanese government leaders placed the Senkaku Islands in state ownership last Tuesday. China and Taiwan also claim the territory.
Gemba said Japanese leaders will deal with the situation calmly and with a broad perspective. Panetta said he understood the Japanese position. He said he planned to ask the Chinese to show self-restraint.
Gemba and Panetta also exchanged views on the Takeshima islands in the Sea of Japan. The islands are claimed by Japan but controlled by South Korea. President Lee Myung-bak strained relations last month by visiting the territory.
Gemba said Japan and South Korea have difficult issues to resolve. He said the Japanese aim to address them calmly.
Gemba and Panetta agreed that the regional security alliance between Japan, the United States, and South Korea remains important.
Gemba later told reporters it's regrettable that anti-Japanese protests in China have become unprecedentedly big and that some have turned violent and inflicted damage on Japanese businesses. He urged Chinese government leaders to address the situation properly and maintain law and order.

日米 日中関係で協力必要一致
玄葉外務大臣は、アメリカのパネッタ国防長官と会談し、沖縄県の尖閣諸島を国有化したあと、中国各地で抗議デモが続いていることについて、日中関係が大きく損なわれないよう日米が協力していく必要があるという認識で一致しました。
１６日夜日本に到着したアメリカのパネッタ国防長官は、１７日午前、外務省で、玄葉外務大臣と会談し、沖縄県の尖閣諸島の国有化に反対する抗議デモが中国各地で続いていることについて意見を交わしました。
この中で、玄葉大臣が、大局的な観点から冷静に対処していくという日本の方針を説明したのに対して、パネッタ長官も理解を示し、日中関係が大きく損なわれないよう日米が協力していく必要があるという認識で一致しました。
そのうえで、パネッタ長官は、このあと訪れる中国に対し、自制を求める考えを示しました。
会談のあと玄葉大臣は記者団に対し、「中国国内では反日デモがこれまでにない規模で拡大し、一部が暴徒化して日系企業に損害が出ていることは遺憾だ。中国政府には適切な対応を求めたい。法と秩序を守るよう重ねて要請したい」と述べました。
一方、会談では、島根県の竹島の領有権をめぐって悪化している日韓関係についても意見が交わされ、玄葉大臣は、「日本と韓国の間には難しい問題があるが、冷静に対処したい」と述べました。
そして、会談では、安全保障分野での日本、アメリカ、韓国の３か国の連携が重要であることに変わりはないことを確認しました。
